As Promised – Heavy Metals, Chemicals and Additives in our Food Part 2…..
Part 1 here…
Lead (Pb)
(Organic and Inorganic forms – inorganic form proliferates)
Sources
- Widespread use in foods,*
- Gasoline *(II)
- Toys*(III)
- Cosmetics*(IV)
- Pesticides
- Paint
- Clothing
- Medicine
Symptoms
- Effects infant development = neurotoxin
- Cardiovascular disease
- Stored in our own bones for up to 30 years
- Autism*(V)
HOW
- Competes with calcium, iron, and zinc by blocking absorption of these nutrients
- Impaired metabolism of antioxidants = therefore more oxidative stress damage.
Treatment
- Vitamins!
- B1, B6,
- C
- E
- Garlic oil
- Turmeric / curcumin
- Quercetin :
- Apples, onions, grapefruit, red wine
- Alpha Lipoic acid
- Chelating compounds
- (dimercaptosuccinic acid) DMSA chelation therapy
- Also had reduced behavioral effects in autistic children!?!*(V)
- (dimercaptosuccinic acid) DMSA chelation therapy

(Extra) Lead has no function inside the human body – a Pollutant plain and simple – yet no safety threshold has ever been established…
Only certain things like candy and food additives have a maximum allowable threshold of lead.
*An EPA-certified lab in Berkeley, California tested around 400 samples of common foodstuffs and determined that many of them had disturbing amounts of lead – Environmental Law Foundation. Notice of violation of the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, Section 25249.6 of the California Health and Safety Code, for exposing consumers of apple juice, grape juice, packaged peaches, pears and fruit cocktail to lead. 2010. LINK.
*(II) leaded gasoline phased out in 1973 – but not entirely banned until 1996! Via U.A Clean Air Act.
*(III) lead in toys banned in 2008 – CPSIA: Consumer Protection Safety Improvement Act.
*(IV)out of 400 lipsticks tested – ALL OF THEM contained lead….2010 U.S. Food and Drug Administration, LINK.

Cadmium (Cd)
Sources
- Cigarettes (tobacco*)
- Total environmental exposure:
- Food (rice*)
- Soil (in fertilizer)
- Water
- Polluted air
- Ni-Cd batteries*(II)
- Coffee!(results to be published)
- PVC products
- Burning municipal waste
- Ore mining
Symptoms
- Reproductive toxin (affects reproductive system)
- Stored in body up to 30 years in – liver, kidney, vascular system.
- Inhibit DNA repair
HOW
- Disrupts and possibly alters mitochondrial function
- Competes with essential nutrients, inhibits D3 absorption, increasing risk of cancer.
Treatment
- Spirulina
- Other blue-green fresh water algae
==========================
*examples of ‘Superabsorptive crops’ – includes leafy vegetables.
*(II) Must dispose of properly.
Aluminum (Al)
Sources
- Deodorant*
- Vaccines*(II)
- Building materials & consumer containers
- Industry emissions = Toxifies entire environment
- Higher than average foods:
- Flours / breads
- Spinach, raddish, lettuce
- Sausages
- Shellfish
- Cocoa
- Tea
- Herbs and spices
- Baking powder
- Highly acidic foods when in contact with aluminum containers
- Soy based infant formula
Symptoms
- DNA damage
- Rise in autistic spectrum-like symptoms
HOW
- Absorbed through all parts of the body, makes its way across blood brain barrier = inflammation and neurological disorders (specially in children – who are at a higher risk because they are still developing)
- Increase in likelihood of dialysis encephalopathy syndrome (dementia) and Alzheimer’s
Treatment
- The most difficult to chelate!
- Malic acid
- chorella

*(II) Hepatitis B vaccine (given at birth) contain 0.25 milligrams of aluminum…if given every vaccine recommended, the new born could receive up to 4.225 milligrams of aluminum within its’ first year. Even though an U.S. Food and Drug Administration study reports that aluminum in vaccines poses a low risk to infants in the journal Vaccine; ‘Vaccines, Blood & Biology’. 2012. **however the editor was a founder of the Mayo Clinic Research Group, who regularly consults with Vaccine producing companies
Copper (Cu)
Sources
- Multivitamins*
- red meats
- Eggs
- Bread
- Shellfish <sea vegetable supplements for pets>
- Nuts and seeds
- Dried legumes
- Dark green leafy veggies
Symptoms
- Mental deficiencies
- Psychological disorders
- Inhibits estrogen metabolism.
- Depression
- Autistic spectrum-like symptoms
HOW
- Blocks enzyme activity: impairing thyroid activity, liver and kidney function.
- Competes with Zinc for absorption sites
- Brain damage and death!
- Especially dangerous when combine with other food additives like Aspartame
Treatment
- Sulfur containing foods:
- Eggs
- Garlic
